The warm Florida sun was beating down on Meri's back, turning it a deep olive. After getting
home from her grandparents', she wanted to enjoy the summer life back in Fort Lauderdale.
She had spent a year with her grandparents because her mother was having some financial
problems. Now that she has paid off debts, she could afford Meri and her sister.
"It's nice to be back home, no other kids out of school yet," giggled the short brunette.
School at her grandparents' ran three weeks ahead of the schools in Fort Lauderdale. The
comic book store was nearly empty, giving Meri a sweet opportunity to look over everything.
She went in search of Sailor Moon manga. Sailor Moon was her favorite super-heroine, and the
artwork was beautifully done. Although she was 15, Meri kind of dreamed about being a Senshi
too. A dream she felt was intangible.
After paying for the comic books, Meri started on her way home. While crossing the street,
she noticed a bluish blur with glowing eyes under a parked car. She walked over to it, knelt
down, and saw a periwinkle cat.
"Hi kitty!" Meri greeted. "Come on out from there, it's dangerous kitty."
"I've been searching for you, Meredith," answered the strange cat with a cresent moon on its
forehead.
"Oh my God!" yelled Meri as she jumped back, falling on her butt.
"Don't be frightened. I'm Selena, your guardian cat. I've got some serious news to discuss
with you, but I think we need to go to your house so no one sees me talking."
"Uh, sure. That'd be for the best." The confused girl lifted the cat in her arms, and
carried her home.
"Now then, first I'll tell you a bit more about myself. I'm a moon cat, sent by Queen
Serenity to awaken the Twin Senshi of Earth when the time was right," began Selena.
"Really? You mean to tell me the Moon Kingdom is... or was real? And that would mean that
Sailor Moon... she exists too?" Meri questioned.
"You've got it," Selena replied. "And now I'll tell you why I came here to find you. The
Twin Senshi of Earth are two of the most powerful Senshi, except for Sailor Moon, in the
Universe. They were the younger sisters of Prince Endymion of Earth, Sailor Scorpio and
Sailor Italy. Both were very loyal to the Queen and Princess Serenity, but were too young to
be able to defend the Moon Kingdom. They were killed in the battle with Queen Beryl. Had
they been properly trained, the Moon Kingdom would have prevailed. The other problem is
that no one wanted two young girls to hold the power to destroy an entire galaxy... until
how."
"Yes, go on," the wide-eyed girl beckoned.
"Well, you are Sailor Scorpio, Princess Meredith of Earth. You've got a twin sister, Sailor
Italy, and Princess Cassandra of Earth."
"What?! Are you serious? I... I... I can't believe it... I thought it was all just
legends... wait... a twin sister? Where is she?"
"I've tracked her in Rome, Italy. We'll have to find her, too, then go to Tokyo to meet the
other Senshi."
"Um, one question. Do you think it'd be okay for me to tell my mom about this? I mean, she'd
flip if I just left like that."
"I guess we could, but she can't let on to anyone else about your identity just yet. The
world isn't ready for the revival of the Moon Kingdom."
"Alright, I'll do it."
